Lunarians possess the ability to "ignite" their body and manipulate the fire they create. Additionally, their physiology somehow grants Lunarians incredible resistance to physical harm, allowing them to thrive in any natural environment.
If your kid can handle the somewhat depressing themes then it should be ok for them. There is also a lot of positive themes and good role models. One of the characters always has a smile on her face and thinks positively in almost every situation.
It's hard not to smile at some of the crew's antics -- and even harder not to cry for them when they go through a tough time. While One Piece is anything but a children's show, older tweens and up can have a fun romp while watching this gem of a Japanese anime.

Children will love this show, but maybe skip Season 2, Episode 4 if your kid is younger than 7. It's great, but a little violent. I mean, it is rated TV-Y7, and that episode especially deserves it.
